New 102,300-square-foot store marks a collaboration with Tsuut’ina Nation, bringing a new shopping destination, local employment and Indigenous art to the Buffalo Run community
BRAMPTON, ON, October 20, 2026 – Real Canadian Superstore® is excited to announce their newest location at Buffalo Run on Tsuut’ina Nation bordering southwest Calgary will officially open its doors on Thursday, November 26, 2026, with a grand opening ceremony at 7 a.m. MST.
Real Canadian Superstore® consulted with The Tsuut’ina-Taza Cultural Advisory Working Group during the design phase, drawing on the group’s insight and guidance, making it the first Real Canadian Superstore® in Alberta developed in close consultation with an Indigenous community. Buffalo Run is one of three community villages within Taza, a 1,200-acre development on Tsuut’ina Nation led by Taza Development Corp. The new store will offer customers a convenient destination for fresh food, home and everyday essentials, while marking an important milestone in the continued growth of the Buffalo Run community.
“We can’t wait to open our doors and welcome the community to this new Superstore,” said Jonathan Carroll, Senior Vice President, Real Canadian Superstore, Loblaw Companies Limited. “There has been so much care and collaboration behind bringing this store to life, and our team is incredibly excited for customers to finally experience it. We’re proud to be joining the Buffalo Run community and look forward to serving our neighbours for many years to come.”
Leading the new store is Store Manager Beverley Sousa, who brings 24 years of experience with Real Canadian Superstore® to her role. Sousa began her career as a cashier and worked in various roles before becoming Store Manager in 2020. Her journey reflects the career growth and development opportunities available across Loblaw, and she is looking forward to welcoming customers and building lasting connections in the community.
The new location will offer the full Real Canadian Superstore® shopping experience, featuring a wide selection of fresh produce, full-service meat, seafood and bakery departments and household essentials including Home, Entertainment, Beauty, Toys and more.
Reflecting the store’s connection to the local community, the building will also feature custom artwork created by four local Indigenous artists. Working closely with artist curator Stephanie One Spot, Real Canadian Superstore® collaborated with Aaron Angus Rattlesnake, Maria One Spot, Irene Crowchild and Brianna Rowan-Meguinis to create original pieces that celebrate local culture and creativity. The artwork will be officially unveiled on opening day.
The opening further strengthens the collaboration between Real Canadian Superstore®, Tsuut’ina Nation and Taza Development Corp., supporting new employment opportunities, economic activity and access to everyday essentials to Tsuut’ina Nation members, Taza residents and the surrounding communities.
“Real Canadian Superstore® took the time to listen,” said James Robertson, President of Taza Development Corp. “Their team brought the guidance they received during design into this building, including original work by local Indigenous artists. This opening brings jobs and everyday essentials closer to Tsuut’ina Nation members and the families settling into Taza. Buffalo Run will keep growing, and we’re committed to building it out with the same intention.”
