Northern Fox Lake Store Damaged by Wildfire

Staff safely evacuated with community

WINNIPEG, MB, May 5, 2023 – The North West Company announced that its Northern store in Fox Lake, Alberta was significantly damaged by an out-of-control wildfire that swept through the community on Thursday, May 4. All staff were reported safely evacuated with the rest of the community.

“We are thankful to Little Red River Chief Sewepagaham, community leaders, and the many emergency crews for safely evacuating the community and for their ongoing efforts to control the fire and protect the community,” said Dan McConnell, President & CEO of The North West Company.  “We are currently planning support for our staff and a donation of essential products for community members displaced by the fires. We extend our condolences to everyone impacted by the fires and especially to those families who have lost their homes.”
