Marie-Eve Royer Named President of Bimbo Canada

Canada’s oldest and largest baking and snacking company appoints new leader from within Canada 

February 15, 2023 (Toronto, ON) – We are pleased to announce the appointment of Marie-Eve Royer as President of Bimbo Canada, Canada’s oldest and largest baking and snacking company. Ms. Royer succeeds Joseph McCarthy who has assumed a newly created role at Bimbo Bakeries USA after five years of leading Bimbo Canada.

Ms. Royer is a transformational leader with more than 20 years of experience at Bimbo Canada driving commercial strategy and developing high-performing teams. In her most recent role as Senior Vice President of Business Transformation, Ms. Royer was responsible for aligning the company’s Commercial Sales and Supply Chain functions.  

“Marie-Eve is a visionary leader with an outstanding track record leading large, complex projects through periods of change and transformation. She is known and respected throughout our organization for her disruptive thinking, her relentless pursuit of excellence and her laser focus on consumer needs,” said Mark Bendix, Executive Vice President, Grupo Bimbo. “This, combined with her deep understanding of our business gained through her decades-long tenure, makes her the ideal person to lead Bimbo Canada into the future.”  

Ms. Royer began her career with Maple Leaf Foods more than 20 years ago in the Leadership Trainee Program; Maple Leaf Foods sold the Canada Bread business to Grupo Bimbo in 2014.  She has held leadership roles in Commercial Strategy, Supply Chain, Marketing, Sales and Foodservice in Canada and the United Kingdom. Through her tenure, Ms. Royer has established herself as a passionate leader dedicated to building a diverse workplace that promotes equity and belonging.  

“It is an honour to lead the talented team at Bimbo Canada whom I’ve had the privilege to work alongside for so many years,” said Ms. Royer. “We have been a part of Canadian’s meals for more than 100 years.  Our products, which are sold under well-loved brands like Dempster’s, Villaggio, Vachon and Takis, are enjoyed across the country. This is something I take enormous pride in. In my new capacity, I look forward to leading this great organization through its next chapter building on our history, accelerating our transformation journey and fostering a culture of collaboration as we fulfill our purpose to Nourish a Better World.”  

Ms. Royer holds a Bachelor of Commerce from McGill University. She volunteers and sits on the Board of Directors at The Grocery Foundation, a non-profit foundation whose mission is to feed the one child in five who goes to school hungry. In 2020, Ms. Royer was recognized as one of Canadian Grocer’s Star Women in Grocery.
