SIAL Canada took place April 29 to May 1 at the Montreal Convention Centre in downtown Montreal.
This year’s trade show featured more than 800 exhibitors from approximately 55 countries. The event typically draws in more than 23,000 food and beverage professionals in retail, foodservice and hospitality. SIAL Canada embodies the convergence of three core sectors: SIAL Food, SIAL Grocerant, and SIAL Packaging. Within these, numerous sub-sectors are spotlighted to cater to the diverse facets of our ever-evolving industry.
Attendees highlighted the event’s exceptional networking, innovative product launches—including sustainable, plant-based, and international, gourmet options—and a significant, busy atmosphere at the Palais des congrès.
SIAL featured three contests: SIAL Innovation, Best Canadian Cheesemonger Competition, and the Start-Up Pitch Competition.
The Cheesemonger competition was particularly notable: Six candidates were selected to compete live in front of an expert jury and attendees for the title and national recognition within the Canadian cheese community. This biennial competition alternates with SIAL Canada’s International Cheese Competition, offering a complementary national and international showcase for cheese professionals.
The winner of this exciting competition will have the honour of receiving a $3,000 cash prize and a national title, allowing them to present their candidacy on the international stage in France in September 2027
