The Board of Directors of Distribution Canada (DCI) is pleased to announce the hiring of Marc Fortin as President and Chief Executive Office of its organization. Marc will be formally introduced to the membership during the Annual General Meeting on Wednesday June 15, 2016 and will officially take office on July 11, 2016.
Marc Fortin is a sales & marketing professional with 24 years experience gathered in CPG companies or as a consultant constantly seeking ways to deliver results. The combination of classical sales and marketing training crossed with an entrepreneurial upbringing and a positive, honest attitude gave him the learning and the tools needed to address any kind of business situations.
Marc created his own consulting firm in Montréal, StratMk Consultation, focused on Strategies, Research, and Sales & Marketing in 2004 and was President of NACDA (National Convenience Stores Distributors Association) for 9 years during that tenure. Before consulting and leading NACDA, Marc was Director of Strategic Planning with Molson where he led a major restructuring of the Sales, Marketing and Category Management departments creating a Trade Marketing team for which he became Director and constructed the department. He was also Director of Innovations, Regional Brands and US Business Development for Canada Bread and held various senior Marketing positions with Borden, Maple Leaf and Kellogg’s where he restructured portfolios and brands re-establishing brand equity, profitability and sales volume. Before working on long term growth initiatives re-establishing the value base equation of brands and portfolios, he was in sales at Kellogg’s as an account manager and in new business development. Marc also owned his own businesses both in the US and in Canada while he was doing his Bachelor degree in Marketing and Economic sciences at the University of Montreal. Marc is married with three kids and he enjoys skiing, running, biking and golfing.
The Board of Directors would like to take this opportunity to thank Mr. Brian Parker for his valuable contribution and dedication to the organization for the past 9 years. Mr. Parker will be officially recognized by the members at its annual Gala reception which will be held on Wednesday June 15, 2016 at the Sheraton Toronto Airport Hotel & Conference Centre.
