Western Grocer Magazine statement on COVID-19

The Covid 19 Crisis

We at Western Grocer magazine know the hard times everyone in the food distribution business is going through right now. Grocers are just having a hard time keeping shelves full as consumers fearful of what might happen next rush to stock up on products. New, stricter cleaning regimes have become the norm while clerks and other frontline grocery workers themselves deal with the fears of potential contamination.

We must all support these hard working and dedicated staff who are helping to deal with one of the worst and most unprecedented societal events in memory.

For those food manufacturers and, indeed, farmers who are also dedicated to keeping the flow of product as uninterrupted as possible we salute you as well. Many manufactures are facing the need to rapidly scale up and hire new workers. This can also pose challenges and difficulties putting a lot of stress and strain on the system.

In response to these difficult times, Western Grocer will be reporting on how the supply chain is coping and the strategies grocers have adopted to deal with changing circumstances. We would like to hear how your company is dealing with the pandemic. Please send us news or other relevant updates.

In the meantime, we hope everyone comes together to limit the spread of the virus and we look forward to hearing from you.

Yours,

Frank Yeo
