Walmart Canada’s Fight Hunger. Spark Change. Campaign Marks Milestone of More Than $55 Million Contributed to Food Banks Canada

Toronto, ON – May 12, 2026 – On its 10th anniversary, Walmart Canada’s annual Fight Hunger. Spark Change campaign in support of Food Banks Canada has reached a 10-year milestone of more than $55 million raised and donated to support foodbanks nationwide.

Every dollar raised in-store during the annual campaign stays local, with 100% of funds directed to the local food bank paired with each Walmart store. The 10th Fight Hunger. Spark Change. national campaign, which ran from February 5 to March 4, 2026, raised $4.8 million, including a $1 million contribution from Walmart Canada.

Fight Hunger. Spark Change. invites Walmart customers to support their local food banks by donating in-store and online, or by contributing food and essential household items. The annual campaign reinforces Walmart Canada’s ongoing commitment to addressing food insecurity and helping food banks meet rising demand in communities across the country.

“Thanks to the incredible generosity of Walmart Canada customers and associates, Fight Hunger. Spark Change. continues to be a powerful force for good in communities across Canada,” said Kirstin Beardsley, Chief Executive Officer, Food Banks Canada. “At a time when food bank use continues to reach record levels, support like this has never been more critical. As we mark 10 years of this campaign, the $4.8 million raised this year alone will help food banks provide reliable access to food for people who need it most. This milestone builds on a decade of impact made possible by Walmart Canada’s ongoing commitment to helping address food insecurity in communities nationwide.”

Since launching in 2017, Fight Hunger. Spark Change. has become a cornerstone of the longstanding relationship between Walmart Canada and Food Banks Canada, generating millions of meals and helping strengthen food bank capacity across the country.

“Our annual Fight Hunger. Spark Change. has been powered by the compassion of our customers and the passion of our associates,” said Sara Gugula, Chief People Officer, Walmart Canada. “Reaching this incredible 10-year milestone of more than $55.6 million contributed to Food Banks Canada shows what’s possible when we come together, fueling our commitment to fighting hunger in the communities we serve.”

The impact of Fight Hunger. Spark Change. is amplified by Walmart Canada’s year‑round support of food banks through Food Banks Canada’s Retail Food Program. Walmart stores and facilities across Canada are connected with nearby food banks to donate surplus food, helping provide food when and where it’s needed most.

Since joining the program in 2012, Walmart Canada has grown participation from 40 stores to more than 400 stores and facilities nationwide, donating 99 million pounds of food to food banks and helping provide over 235 million meals to people in Canada.

As food insecurity continues to affect communities from coast to coast, Walmart Canada and Food Banks Canada remain committed to working together to help ensure food banks have the resources they need to support individuals and families today and into the future.
