Maple Leaf Members Ratify New Five-Year Deal

On Monday, December 7, UFCW Local 832 members working at the Winnipeg Maple Leaf plant ratified a new five-year deal by 82%

Over 1200 UFCW Local 832 members will see their wages rise from $1.60 to  $2.50 an hour over the life of the agreement, along with strong improvements to health benefits, pension and job reclassification that will add an additional 1.354 million dollars into members wages over term of the contract.

UFCW Local 832 President, and chief negotiator for the new deal was pleased with the results of the vote.

“The members asked us to ensure that they would be on the same track as the members at the Brandon Maple Leaf plant and we were able to achieve those goals and more. Our bargaining committee worked hard on this deal and I also have to commend the company for coming to the table with a strong commitment of continuing to invest in our province,” stated Traeger.

The new deal becomes effective on January 1, 2016.

UFCW Local 832 represents over 16,000 Manitoban’s and over 230,000 across Canada.
