Longueuil, QC, September 24, 2026 — Aliments du Québec is pleased to announce the appointment of Pierre Lessard-Blais as Executive Director. Taking office on October 5, 2026, he brings extensive experience in management, business development, strategic planning, governance, and team leadership to the organization and its member companies.

The board of directors was seeking a unifying leader to guide our industry through a period marked by significant challenges,” said Pierre-Alexandre Blouin, Chair of the Board of Directors of Aliments du Québec.
“His proven track record of collaborating with partners across diverse sectors is a major asset. We are confident that Pierre will advance Aliments du Québec’s mission and effectively represent the interests of the organization and its members to benefit Québec’s biofood sector and broader economy.”
As mayor of the Montréal borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve from 2017 to 2025, Pierre Lessard-Blais led major projects and worked closely with municipal teams, government representatives, businesses, and community organizations. He also chaired the City of Montréal’s Standing Committee on Finance and Administration.
Earlier in his career, he co-founded the microbrewery L’Espace Public, which he led from 2011 to 2017 and where he remains a minority shareholder, gaining firsthand experience in business development and product marketing. Additionally, he served as Chair of the Société de développement commercial Hochelaga-Maisonneuve, representing and supporting more than 300 local merchants.
This background gives him a practical understanding of the daily realities businesses face, as well as extensive experience engaging with diverse stakeholders. As Executive Director, he will focus on raising the profile of Québec businesses and products while strengthening the organization’s certification marks as trusted reference points for consumers.
Pierre Lessard-Blais succeeds Isabelle Roy, who served as Executive Director from 2018 to 2026. The organization also extends its sincere thanks to Corinne Demars, who served as Interim Executive Director during the transition and will continue in her role as Deputy Executive Director.
