Rice is a crop that has been greatly affected by the movement towards monoculture and the heavy emphasis on planting hybrid varieties. In the Philippines there still remains an incredible variety of heirloom rice through seeds that have been saved for hundreds of years. This non‐GMO rice maintains seed diversity and increases local food security.
This rice is unique; grown on the famous rice terraces of the northern Philippines by indigenous people farming on a small-scale. The Philippines exported only one container of rice last year. You can purchase this beautiful rice from Level Ground Trading.
