Hung’s Noodles celebrates 40 years of business and community growth

Calgary, AB – Hung’s Noodles is proud to announce 40 years of business in Winter 2023. Since its inception in 1983, Hung’s Noodles has been committed to serving the community and providing fresh, authentic noodles and wrappers for restaurants and retail.

Hung’s Noodles has grown from a small family business that started in the basement of an Uncle’s restaurant to a mid-size family owned company that manufactures their award winning products in a 6000 square foot facility. Throughout the years, Hung’s noodles has wanted to convey a relationship first mentality throughout their business practices.

“The business was really founded to serve a specific community. We want to share our food and culture more broadly, but it didn’t feel like the average Canadian was ready for it.  In more recent years, the Canadian palate has really shifted with people traveling more through Asia, cooking shows and such… there’s more people who love to experience Asian foods and flavours, both at home and while eating out.” – Joanne Chung, ‘Noodle Slinger’

For the past 40 years Hung’s has focused on serving the communities around them and building relationships with the people who love their products and have loved it for generations, moving forward Hung’s is working on bringing their business to noodle lovers and chefs across the prairies to continue fostering positive relationships and delivering an authentic culinary experience.

“It’s wide open and it’s really exciting. There is so much opportunity for innovation and expansion – we’re certainly looking forward to what the future holds.” – Joanne Chung

For their 40-year anniversary Hung’s Noodles will be running a 10 day YYC Noodle Festival in partnership with Roots Collective Canada, benefiting Calgary Meals on Wheels.  Roots Collective is a not-for-profit organization that aims to share and celebrate Asian pop culture in North America through various culturally inspired events. Calgary Meals on Wheels is a registered charity that has been providing nutritious, affordable meals to thousands of Calgarians since 1965. Learn more about the event at www.yycnoodlefestival.com

Hung’s Noodles is grateful to Albertans who have supported them through the years and is proud to be able to continue serving their community and beyond for years to come.

“In the last 10 years, our company has been able to go from a small business that kind of caters to our community and does some safe things with a broader market, to really being freed up to proudly share our culture, and talk about who we are and what we do. And you know, I sometimes feel that companies like ours are like a best kept secret.” – Joanne Chung
