Calgary Co-op Announces Leadership Transition as it Continues Steady Growth

October 23, 2025 – Calgary, AB – Calgary Co-operative Association Limited (“Calgary Co-op”) continues to demonstrate strong operational performance and sustained growth, highlighted by the successful opening of its newest location in the community of Greystone in Cochrane in September 2025. Building on this momentum, Calgary Co-op is preparing for the launch of its newest Community Natural Foods location in the community of Seton in November 2025, followed shortly by the opening of a new Wine Spirits Beer and Cannabis store in the same community. These developments reflect the organization’s commitment to meeting the evolving needs of its members and reinforcing its market presence.

As part of its ongoing CEO succession process, Calgary Co-op’s Board of Directors announces that Lisa Swartzman will conclude her term as Interim Chief Executive Officer in mid-November, following a successful year of dedicated leadership.

To ensure continuity and maintain strong organizational focus, the Board has appointed Ken White, the current Board Chair, to the role of Executive Chair, allowing him to continue serving as Chair of the Board while also taking on additional responsibilities within the CEO role.

Mr. White brings extensive operational expertise and a deep understanding of Calgary Co-op’s business, positioning him to provide stable leadership and oversight across core business functions during this transition.

Calgary Co-op is well positioned for long-term success, supported by a strong leadership team and a clearly defined growth strategy,” said Ken White, Executive Chair. “On behalf of the Board, I thank Lisa for her valuable contributions and look forward to continuing to deliver exceptional products, services, and value to our members.”

The Board remains committed to completing a comprehensive search for the organization’s next permanent Chief Executive Officer, with a focus on identifying the right leader to guide Calgary Co-op into its next chapter.
