Aurora celebrates founder Nunzio Tumino’s 90th birthday

Nunzio Tumino, the founder of Aurora Importing and Distributing, turned 90 on November 4. He founded Aurora in 1955 as a pioneer importing “ethnic foods,” primarily from Italy to serve new immigrants to Canada. Over the years the company has expanded to carry more than 4000 products, including its own Aurora and Allessia lines. With facilities in Mississauga, ON and Montreal, Aurora has won numerous industry awards and accolades.

“Even at 90, Nunzio Tumino continues to spend every day going in to his office, continuing to strengthen the foundation he built and his legacy,” Aurora president Anthony Morello told Grocery Business. “A true entrepreneur, a gentleman and a charisma that is unmatched.”
