The FreshCo rollout in Western Canada continues with the discount banner’s six new locations in Alberta confirmed.
Opening in Alberta in Fall 2021 are:
- FreshCo Brentwood, Calgary, AB
- FreshCo Millbourne Mall, Edmonton, AB
- FreshCo Coliseum, Edmonton, AB
- FreshCo Palisades Square, Edmonton, AB
- FreshCo Gateway Village Mall, St. Albert, AB
- Chalo! FreshCo Saddle Ridge, Calgary, AB
All of the locations are currently Safeway stores and starting in Spring 2021, they will close for a four to five-month period for renovations and construction. The locations will re-open as FreshCo stores in Fall 2021. We will share exact dates as they are confirmed.
Five of the Safeway locations: Millbourne Mall, Coliseum, Palisades Square, Gateway Village Mall and Saddle Ridge, each have pharmacies, which will remain open during the renovations. Throughout construction, our Safeway pharmacy team will continue to serve customers in temporary pharmacy locations that will be conveniently located at or nearby the current Safeway locations. The new FreshCo locations will open with pharmacy departments where customers can expect the same great service from our great pharmacy team. There will be no interruption in patient care or customer files.
In addition to the six Alberta stores, FreshCo also announced the first location in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The store is an existing Safeway location that will close for renovation in Spring 2021, with plans to open as a FreshCo in Fall 2021.
