New Zealand’s ‘Most Trusted and Most Loved Brand’ continues to satisfy the Canadian sweet tooth
NEW ZEALAND (January 15, 2020) – With international borders remaining closed to travel, iconic chocolatier, Whittaker’s, has brought a taste of New Zealand to Canada with the launch of its brand new Canadian website. The site will take Canadian consumers on a journey that explores Whittaker’s signature bean to bar chocolate-making process, as well as the brand’s rich history dating back to 1896. Chocolate lovers will also find a Canadian store and product locator, inspiring recipes and more about the brand’s background and deep-rooted values.
Whittaker’s first began distributing a limited number of its products at select Canadian retailers in 2015 and has since expanded that distribution to make its sought-after chocolate more widely available throughout the country. A favourite among those in-the-know, New Zealand’s ‘Most Trusted and Most Loved Brand’ continues to invite Canadians to indulge their sweet tooth with a number of unique flavour profiles.
“We have received a wonderful response from Canadians who have come to know and love Whittaker’s from halfway around the world,” says Whittaker’s co-Chief Operating Officer, Matt Whittaker. “We have kept our finger on the pulse and have been delighted to see that these discerning Chocolate Lovers continue to seek out Whittaker’s products across Canada. In a year where we have all had to stay close to home physically, we hope that our unique flavours will inspire the palate to take a journey around the world, if only for a delicious moment.”
In the wake of a challenging year, Canadians can find comfort in Whittaker’s Canadian line up of eleven family-sized 200g bar flavours, including Creamy Milk, Almond Gold, Rum & Raisin and of course, a Canadian favourite – Peanut Butter. Whittaker’s has also introduced its iconic Peanut Slab and five of its 100g specialty bars showcasing the best of New Zealand flavours, including Fijian Ginger & Kerikeri Mandarin and Marlborough Sea Salt & Caramel Brittle at select stores.
“Our decision to continue expansion in this key market has been informed by our ongoing engagement with consumers and we are pleased to unveil our bespoke Canadian website as part of that growth,” continues Mr. Whittaker.
A family-owned company founded more than 120 years ago, Whittaker’s is committed to maintaining its reputation for producing world-class chocolate of the highest quality. In fact, Whittaker’s makes all of its products at a single factory in Porirua, NZ where it can oversee the entire manufacturing process – from bean to bar – thus ensuring there is no country-to-country deviation in its recipes or in the top-quality ingredients used to make its range. Four generations after it was established, Whittaker’s operations remain a family affair and are run by brothers, Andrew and Brian Whittaker, with the support of the next generation of Whittaker’s, brother and sister, Matt and Holly.
Whittaker’s believes that ‘best is always better’, a sentiment that is applied to every aspect of production, from using only the finest ingredients, to employing the very best methods and the most precise machinery. This commitment goes beyond production as Whittaker’s also does its best by supporting its communities and suppliers, diligently developing sustainable packaging, and seeking ingredients that are ethically and fairly produced.
Whittaker’s Canadian range is distributed throughout Canada and is available in London Drugs stores and other selected specialty retailers. For more information about Whittaker’s, Canadians can visit the new website at www.whittakerschocolate.com.
