Vumami Foods Releases Umami Bomb Shiitake Chili Oil
Full-Flavored Vegan Condiment Now Available in Stores Across British Columbia
Sidney, BC — Umami Bomb Shiitake Chili Oil, a new vegan condiment produced by Sidney-based Vumami Foods, is now available at select gourmet markets throughout British Columbia. The chili oil, which can be used for noodles, stir fry, dips, spreads and more, is also available online throughout Canada at www.umamibomb.com.
“In Japanese, the word ‘umami’ is used to describe foods that have a distinct, savoury flavor and mouthfeel. My partner and I spent a long time trying to replicate that taste in a vegan condiment that we could use to liven up veggies, noodles, sandwiches and wraps. After much experimentation, we used shiitake mushrooms, sunflower oil and a global blend of spices to strike the perfect balance and create a new and unique flavour experience,” said Vumami Foods founder Nicholas Baingo. “It adds bold, savoury, spicy flavour to any dish!”
Umami Bomb Shiitake Chili Oil is available in medium and hot and retails for $8.99. The product is currently available online and at Vegan Supply, Plant Life Nutrition, The Vegetarian Butcher, Quality Greens Farm Market, and other fine grocers across British Columbia.
About Vumami Foods
Vumami Foods was started by Lauren Isherwood and Nicholas Baingo, a British Columbian couple who went vegan and found they really missed the deep, rich, umami flavour that came with eating animal protein-based meals. Through much trial and error, they found a perfect blend of Eastern and Western flavours, mixed with cooked shiitake mushrooms, that provides the savoury flavour and mouthfeel that they missed and their first product, Umami Bomb, was born. Umami Bomb is a one-of-a-kind premium shiitake chili oil that adds tangy, tempting flavour to almost any dish. Vumami Foods was founded in Osoyoos, BC and is now produced in Sidney, BC.
