Level Ground Trading: Victoria Coffee Innovator moves up to new state-of-the-art headquarters

Victoria, BC – Level Ground Trading, Victoria’s Fair Trade pioneer, is moving from their current location in Central Saanich, to a larger custom-designed facility only 1 km away.  The new location move will double the company’s capacity and allow them to invite the public for tours and tastings of their exceptional coffees in their new Tasting Room.

“Our new facility offers countless advantages, “says one of Level Ground’s co-founders, Stacey Toews. “We will be able to bring our team together in a dynamic, larger space where we look forward to welcoming visitors and the public.  We’ve purpose-built the facility for tours, with 17 viewing windows into production and packaging. And, finally, it offers the chance to set up a Tasting Room, allowing us invite people into a beautiful space and leave with an impression of quality coffee with stories of connection behind it.”

The Tasting Room, which will open in the summer of 2018, will feature a Slow Bar, allowing guests to test-drive Level Ground products, as well as the chance to join in the “cupping” process, while learning more about this ritual that serves coffee quality maintenance.

The move to new headquarters at 1757 Sean Heights (just up the hill from the current address!) will happen in the coming weeks, Level Ground Trading will be open for business at their new home on Jan. 2, 2018.

About Level Ground Trading:

Level Ground Trading started in 1997, when four families came together with the idea of improving the lives of disadvantaged producers through trade. Level Ground’s first Fair Trade initiative was buying coffee from a cooperative in Colombia. From there, trade relationships were formed in Bolivia, Peru, Ethiopia, Tanzania, and D.R. Congo.  Trade relationships were also started with small-scale tea growers in India, heirloom rice farmers and coconut oil producers in the Philippines and finally with spice farmers in Sri Lanka and vanilla growers in Uganda.

The mission of Level Ground Trading is to trade fairly and directly with small-scale producers in developing countries, offering customers ethical choices. The company’s vision is to alleviate poverty in developing countries through Direct Fair Trade.

At home in Victoria BC, Level Ground sends nothing to landfill, pays staff to bicycle to work and reclaims their packaging for upcycling and composting.
