October 2, 2020 – As the country is now meeting the challenges of a second COVID-19 wave, Grocery Innovations Canada want to give all our partners the time they have requested to make the transition to a virtual trade show and conference a success for all. Accordingly, GIC will push our dates for GIC LIVE @ HOME from the end of October to November 24th, 25th and 26th.
While there is no replacement for the personal interactions that are facilitated by a physical in-person event, at the same time, moving to a virtual Trade show in the context of COVID-19, now affords grocery retailers across Canada the opportunity to participate in GIC LIVE @ HOME with full access–day and night–for themselves and other team members, to our exhibitors and exciting conference speakers. As well, the strains put on our grocery supply chain by COVID-19, has retailers looking to re-establish existing relationships and to explore new business opportunities. A virtual event also removes any current health and safety issues about participation and concerns with travel or accommodations. As a result, our retail attendee registration numbers are already pacing well ahead of last year’s GIC and we expect retail participation this year to be at its highest levels we have ever recorded.
As such, GIC LIVE @ HOME will greatly enhance the opportunity for facilitating increased connections with the retail grocery community across Canada through its leading edge virtual design, features and interactive capabilities.
However, at the same time, there is no doubt that for all of us, particularly for our Exhibitor partners in the supplier, wholesale and distributor community, moving to a virtual experience is entirely unprecedented and we are in uncharted territory. As such, while our exhibitors are enthusiastic about the opportunity presented by significantly enhanced retail exposure, there are adjustments and different components to a virtual event. This is the experience of a myriad of events around the world.
Grocery Innovations Canada has been and will continue to collaborate with our exhibitor and grocery retail partners and together, the transition to a virtual platform has been successful. The results of GIC LIVE @ HOME on November 24th, 25th and 26th, 2020 will be an exciting new virtual grocery experience for all of our partnering companies and retailer attendees.
